No one saw Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks having any kind of success in 2022.
However, the 32-year-old quarterback is having a solid season this year.
His play is a factor into his team’s 6-4 record, which puts them in first place in the NFC West.
However, is Smith good enough to be considered a top-five quarterback?

Smith’s 2022 Season Is Special
Smith is having the best season of his career, as he’s already bypassed his career high for touchdowns.
His 2,474 passing yards is 572 yards behind his career high in passing yards, which he set in his rookie season.
However, these aren’t the only areas he’s seeing major improvements, as his passer rating is currently at a career high.
With these improvements, he’s got to be a top-five quarterback, right?
Well, he is in the top five for passing yards.
His passing yards per attempt (7.8) rank him sixth among qualified starting quarterbacks this season.
However, it’s his completion percentage (72.8%) this season that’s blowing away the competition.
That rate puts him in first place among qualified starting quarterbacks.
He’s also winning games, as his 6-4 record is giving his team first place in the NFC West.
When putting everything together, Smith is a top-five quarterback for the 2022 season.
While many will swoon over Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts, Smith is proving he can hang with them.
With no one giving him a chance this season outside of Seattle, he’s making a serious statement to those people.
That statement is him being a top-five quarterback in the NFL for this season.
