On Monday, Team Mexico’s dream run in the World Baseball Classic came to a screeching halt.

The team had moved to within three outs of advancing to the championship game for a date with Team USA.

However, Giovanny Gallegos couldn’t hold off Japan’s rally and surrendered a game-winning hit to Munetaka Murakami in the bottom of the ninth.

And so, Team Japan and the United States will fight for the title as this legendary MLB event reaches its end.

After their devastating loss to Japan on Monday, Mexico gave their fans a wholesome moment, tipping their caps to the crowd and thanking them for their support.

Mexico’s run was certainly special.

The team was an underdog right from the onset of the tournament.

However, an 11-5 win over the United States in Pool play gave fans a glimpse of what they were capable of.

They also eliminated Puerto Rico to advance to the semifinals.

Needless to say, it was a good run that the team is certainly proud of.

And they didn’t go away quietly on Monday.

They got things going early when Luis Urias hit a three-run home run to give them a 3-0 lead.

Randy Arozarena also made a very impressive catch to steal a home run.

After squandering their lead, Mexico bounced back and regained the lead on base-hits by Alex Verdugo and Isaac Paredes.

They allowed a run in the eighth, but had come to within three outs of advancing.

The loss is certainly heartbreaking, but Mexico’s fans should be proud of their team’s run.
