The New York Giants are looking to build on the unexpected success they had during the 2022 season.

They won six of their first seven games, and after finishing 9-7-1, they upset the Minnesota Vikings, a team that won 13 games in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs.

Quarterback Daniel Jones was just given a lucrative new contract, while star running back Saquon Barkley will remain with the team under its franchise tag.

It also looks like key safety Julian Love will stick around, as Dov Kleiman reported that both sides appear to be approaching an agreement on a new contract.

New York got it done this past season by winning ugly and having a whole that was greater than the sum of it’s parts.

Although their overall offensive numbers weren’t too impressive, they held opposing teams down defensively.

In eight of their nine regular-season wins, the Giants held their opposition to 20 or fewer points.

Love was a significant part of that by posting 124 tackles (79 solo), six tackles for loss, five passes defended, and two interceptions.

With his help, the Giants finished ninth in passing touchdowns allowed this past season, and they held stud wide receiver Justin Jefferson to just 47 yards in their playoff win over Minnesota.

Love is just 24 years old (he will turn 25 on March 19), and he has shown plenty of improvement in 2022, which was his first season as a full-time starter.
