The wait for the World Baseball Classic is nearly over.
On Tuesday night, the fun begins.
MLB players from all over the world have teamed up with their respective countries and are now ready to do battle in this epic tournament.
Fans have been waiting for the return of the Classic since 2017.
It was set to return in 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic wiped it off the schedule.
But at long last, it’s here.
And so, we may see some interesting matchups in the WBC, and not just between two teams.
Depending on the outcome of the tournament, we could see players who are normally teammates squaring off in a hitter-pitcher matchup.
On Twitter, the official account for the WBC posed a question to fans about what potential matchups they would like to see.
What batter-pitcher matchup are you hoping to see at the #WorldBaseballClassic?

Depending on how the tournament plays out, certain teammates could be duking it out at some point.
For example, if Team USA matches up with Team Japan, we could see Shohei Ohtani pitching to his Los Angeles Angels teammate and fellow star Mike Trout.
In a potential matchup between the United States and Team Canada, we might get a chance to see Adam Wainwright pitching to his St. Louis Cardinals teammate in Tyler O’Neill.
If Team USA meets up with the Mexican National Team, there could be a matchup between two Los Angeles Dodgers batterymates, those being catcher Will Smith and pitcher Julio Urias.
The possibilities are simply endless, and it’ll be fun to see what sort of matchups take place.
