Over the weekend, the Chicago White Sox got some good news about one of their offseason additions.
Veteran right-hander Mike Clevinger, who had signed a one-year, $12 million deal with the team, was under investigation by MLB for allegations of domestic violence and child abuse.
However, it appears that the right-hander has been cleared by the league.
Clevinger will not face any disciplinary action and will be a factor in the White Sox rotation this coming season.
On Twitter, Bob Nightengale of USA Today gave an update on the situation, posting a screenshot of the statement that was released by the Office of the Commissioner.

This is good news for the White Sox.
We obviously do not know the specifics of the investigation and what evidence that MLB found.
But if Clevinger had faced any punishment, it would have been bad news for the White Sox.
The team signed Clevinger early in the offseason to fill a hole in their rotation.
Veteran Johnny Cueto ended up signing a one-year deal with the Miami Marlins.
However, it appears that MLB found no substantial evidence against Clevinger and that the right-hander will proceed with his normal spring training routine.
The White Sox already have three solid starters at the top of their rotation in Dylan Cease, Lance Lynn, and Lucas Giolito.
Clevinger brings good experience to the White Sox rotation which includes some postseason games from his time with the Cleveland Indians (Guardians) and San Diego Padres.
Unless more evidence comes to light, it appears that the White Sox will not have to worry about not having Clevinger around.
