Fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers were demanding the team start rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett to start the 2022 season.
While he wasn’t named the starting quarterback during Week 1, he has gotten his chance to lead the Steelers offense.
However, after playing five games this season, he’s sporting an embarrassing statistic.
With some fans still on the Pickett bandwagon, what embarrassing stat does the rookie quarterback have after playing five games?
Kenny Pickett Has The Worst Start In NFL Since 2005
It’s been 17 years since an NFL quarterback has thrown 8+ interceptions while having two or fewer touchdowns in their first five career games.

While Alex Smith was the last quarterback to do this, it’s now Pickett who holds this embarrassing statistic.
However, it didn’t stop some people from defending the rookie quarterback, as they blame his receivers for some interceptions.
Yawn….at least 3 INTS were tipped by his own receivers (catchable) and one was a Hail Mary. Not been great but not as bad as made out to be.

While the team is 2-6, it’s not stopping fans from believing in Pickett.
With mistakes made by receivers, it gives fans someone else to blame for their rookie quarterback’s horrible stats.
But some fans of the Steelers lay blame on Matt Canada, the offensive coordinator of the team.
They feel he’s to blame for any shortcoming with the rookie.
Because of this, fans of the Steelers will ignore this news about their first-round pick from this season.
They will instead blame others for him having a horrible season.
However, not everything from Pickett’s season can be laid on other people.
While fans will defend him, Pickett needs to step up if he wants to bring a winning team back to Pittsburgh.
