Injuries are always a factor in sports, especially in the NFL, but some teams, for whatever reason, seem to have worse luck than others when it comes to remaining healthy throughout the course of the season.
These two teams have gotten the short end of the stick in terms of injuries this season, yet thanks to their high-end talent, they’re still very much in the hunt for a playoff spot.
1. San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers have dealt with the injury bug for a third straight season, but true to their character, they have found a way to remain competitive.
Last season, they started 3-5, but they somehow got hot down the stretch and were minutes away from reaching the Super Bowl for the second time in three years.
San Francisco is currently 5-4 despite fielding one of the best rosters in the NFL, especially on defense, but they’ve been banged up.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel, running back Elijah Mitchell, offensive lineman Trent Williams, tight end George Kittle, pass rusher Nick Bosa, and cornerback Emmanuel Moseley, just to name a few, have all missed games, or in some cases, multiple games.
Luckily, the Niners are almost back to full strength now, and they seem poised for another hot November, December and possibly January.
2.Los Angeles Chargers
Perhaps no team this season has dealt with more key injuries than the Bolts.
They’ve been without top wideout Keenan Allen for much of the season, and lately they’ve been missing fellow wideouts Mike Williams and Jalen Guyton, cornerback JC Jackson, and pass rusher Joey Bosa, among others.
The Chargers are 5-3, Herbert has been playing hurt since game 2, and the team has had the most injuries in the league. If Herbert doesn’t have any of his regular receivers and the practice squad players can’t get separation then what do you think will happen? Need a deep threat. pic.twitter.com/vRhDiTGmzl

The Chargers were expected to be in the mix for a spot in the Super Bowl, but all their injuries have thrown head coach Brandon Staley’s attempts to coalesce their talent into confusion.
After losing to San Francisco on Sunday, they’re just 5-4, and they have a difficult game versus the Kansas City Chiefs coming up next week.
