Right now, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is in an enviable position.
He is about to appear in his third Super Bowl in four years, and he has the opportunity to become one of a handful of starting signal-callers who won two world championships before turning 28 years of age.
It is not too surprising that Mahomes currently has the highest odds of being named the MVP of Super Bowl LVII.

He has been dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered in the Chiefs’ divisional round victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he was still able to work lots of his usual magic in the AFC Championship Game versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
In that contest, he completed 29 of 43 passes and threw two touchdown strikes while making some big plays down the stretch.
Last year in the same situation, Mahomes threw an interception in overtime against the Bengals as Kansas City lost by three, but this time, he converted a crucial first down with his own legs as time ran out.
That first down, plus an unnecessary roughness penalty on Cincinnati for shoving him after he went out of bounds, allowed Harrison Butker to score the game-winning field goal.
Despite losing star wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins last year, Mahomes had another sensational season, leading the NFL in both passing yards (5,250) and passing touchdowns (41) while posting a passer rating of 105.2).
Mahomes’ exploits resulted in the Chiefs finishing first in points scored, total yards, passing touchdowns and first downs.
Now, he will have the chance to enhance his legacy and approach all-time great territory with another Super Bowl victory when he faces the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
