As MLB Network counts down the Top 100 players in all of baseball, fans will find that a certain player who was left off the list in recent years has righted the ship and found his way onto the list.

Arizona Diamondbacks ace Zac Gallen finds himself at No. 69 on the list.

Last night, MLB analysts Greg Amsinger, Cameron Maybin, and Chris Young got a chance to catch up with Gallen, with Amsinger apologizing to the young ace for him being left off the list in recent years.

The 27-year-old accepted Amsinger’s apology with a smile on his face and discussed what it meant for him to be on the Top 100 list.

Gallen talked about how he used the fact that he was left off the list last year as motivation to fight his way onto the list in 2023.

Gallen also expressed that he appreciated being named to the list, but also acknowledged that the work isn’t done until he finds himself in the top spot.

The right-hander was then asked by Maybin about his 44.1 inning scoreless streak and whether or not he became superstitious as a way to keep the streak alive.

Gallen responded by saying that he was always superstitious as a kid, but that now it’s something he wants to try to get away from and ultimately fall into a set routine to prepare himself.

Clearly, the routine has worked for the young righty.

In 2022, Gallen won 12 games in 31 starts and posted a 2.54 ERA.

He’ll look to build off his success in 2023 with another solid season.
