The New York Yankees are without a doubt the most historic organization in professional sports.

Having won 27 World Series titles and more championships than any other franchise in sports history, the Yankees are the team that draws the most headlines and interest around the world.

Entering the 2023 season, the team has some question marks at the shortstop position.

They have a few internal options that they are quite high on such as Anthony Volpe, Oswald Peraza, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, and Oswaldo Cabrera.

Yankees legend David Cone recently chatted with Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman of the New York Post and discussed the team’s shortstop options.

Cone stated that he believes the Yankees are a very patient organization and are interested in seeing what they have at the shortstop position right now.

The former right-hander said that since the Yankees are very dedicated to their process, they likely are not panicking right now and are okay with Volpe getting some at-bats in the minors before he reaches the big leagues.

Volpe has had a very productive spring training thus far and looks to be in a good spot as he attempts to claim the starting shortstop job.

Cone doesn’t seem to think it’s a bad idea to give Peraza some chances at shortstop before they fully commit to Volpe.

He believes it’s a matter of “when” with Volpe and that it likely won’t take too long before the top prospects reach the big leagues and plays a key role in the success of the Yankees.
