What Happens If Benavidez Fights Canelo – USA Informing

PBC Boxing: MGM Grand Garden Arena; Las Vegas

The problem when you’re at the top of the mountain is there is nowhere else to go. But despite Canelo Alvarez being a champion assassin, there’s one specific fighter he hasn’t scrapped with. David Benavidez. Maybe it’s a Mexican thing. Perhaps it’s a feeling of not being worthy. Only Saul knows for sure. However, now it really has to happen. And exactly what happens if Benavidez and Alvarez clash.

Just about one of boxing’s best when it comes to someone who throws shots in flurries, Benavidez; He is also a slow starter. Alvarez can make his reads, or come out aggressive, it all depends on his opponent. And yes, because of what he’s accomplished everyone in boxing wants a piece of Alvarez. And this isn’t the age of fighters taking four-five-or six fights a year. It’s an age of two-or three.

If there was a way to stop the possible rematch between Alvarez and Bivol, boxing fans, and quite frankly other boxers too want the fight with the “Mexican Monster” first. Although ALvarez has JOHN RYDER in May. Especially if it went down when Benavidez would like; in September for Mexican Independence Day (Sept 16). Arguably the two-best Mexicans right now slugging it out that weekend would equal a Hollywood script. It’s a fight that the Saudi’s would surely love to have, but most likely would go down in Vegas, AT&T Stadium, or Reliant Stadium.

What Happens If Benavidez And Canelo Go Next

According to him, this was the first-time Benavidez did serious weight training to fight Caleb Plant. Benavidez threw 210-punches, 181-power shots, and 30-jabs versus sweethands. The game plan against Canelo is tricky. If he sits back, the future Hall Of Famer will jump on him. And if he walks into a dog fight he can be outslugged… easily.

The heart Plant shown not going down would be overshadowed by the chin, ring IQ, and heart of Alvarez’s. But Alvarez learned the game well. He learned it from Floyd Mayweather. Make someone hot wait and wait to fight. And jump on someone with less experience early.

If he was to say okay, let’s do it; Alvarez hits harder than Plant. Being Plant was the biggest test to date for Benavidez, Alvarez would be extremely confident. Yes Benavidez finished super strong, but you have to wonder was that mostly due to Plant fading. Yes Alvarez would be giving up some size, but that happens in just about every fight.

The best game plan Benavidez could have is play to his own strength. Get inside, and throw leather, and dig the body over and over again. After all, he could clip him. Try not to take a backwards step, or be in awe. Half the time Alvarez has you beat before even entering the ring. Which is what makes him on the Mount Rushmore of Mexican fighters.
