The Celtics only played two games in week two of the NBA. After starting 3-0, Boston has dropped two of their last three games. Let’s recap the latest on the Celtics.
Oct. 28th: Cavaliers VS Celtics
The Celtics lost a tough game to the Cleveland Cavaliers 132-123. Boston gained a double-digit lead before the half but blew it in overtime. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum dropped 32 points each but weren’t the highest-flying duo on the court. Caris LeVert and Donovan Mitchell scored 41 points each, and Evan Mobley tagged on 19 with ten boards.
Player of the game: Caris LeVert. 41 points, seven assists, and four rebounds.
Oct. 30th: Wizards VS Celtics
The Celtics bounced back after their second straight loss with a home win against the Washington Wizards. In the 112-94 win, head coach Joe Mazzulla switched his defensive game plan back to the Celtics of last year. Switching on every screen and trusting his players in space despite the lack of Robert Williams. No player for Washington had no players over 20 points, but Kristaps Porzingis dropped a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds. Brown led the way for Boston with a double-double of his own. I have dropped 24 points and have rebounds. Malcolm Brogdon had a big game with 23 points in 23 minutes.
Player of the game: Jaylen Brown. 24 points, have rebounds, and two assists.
Week Two Final Thoughts
The Celtics were below average on defense before the Wizards game. Mazzulla did a good job making the adjustments. In one game with the new defense, they held a team with Porzingis, Bradley Beal, and Kyle Kuzma to under 100 points.
The Celtics will get another crack at their two losses. They have the Cavs on Nov. 2nd and the Bulls on the 4th. Boston will head to New York to play the Knicks on the 5th and finish the week on the 7th against the Grizzlies.
