Baseball is growing as a sport: more countries are playing it with each passing year.

In tournaments like the World Baseball Classic, we see that more nations are capable of putting together a competitive team.

Other countries, however, are still not in that phase.

Thanks to New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton, people in Egypt are getting familiar with the game.

Stanton is in Egypt, taking a break from the 2022 season and spending some quality time with lots of kids with an interest in baseball.

He is seen in the video showing them how to throw a ball and hit it off a tee.

He is actually enjoying his time in Northern Africa, with baseball taking over the scene, of course.

Stanton had his season derailed by injuries once again, mainly a left Achilles issue that affected him in the second half.

He ended up hitting 31 home runs, but was limited to 110 games and slashed .211/.297/.462.

He was still an above-average hitter judging by his 115 wRC+.

He Will Look To Rebound In 2023

This stat assesses the offensive performance of a hitter relative to the league average, which is 100.

Anything above 100 is considered above-average, so Stanton cleared that bar.

Between the lower-body injury and his own limitations to make consistent contact, however, he fell short of his 140 career wRC+ and his 137 mark in 2021.

The 2023 campaign will represent another chance for Stanton to re-establish himself as a premier slugger in the game.

He will need to stay healthy, though.

Collectively speaking, Stanton will also be looking for his first World Series title.

For now, however, it’s time to kick back while enjoying the game in a more relaxed environment.
