San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. has had a busy couple of years.

In 2021, he had a phenomenal season with 42 home runs and 25 stolen bases in just 130 games.

I have suffered a dislocated shoulder and several subluxations and had to miss time.

Then, he had a freak motorcycle injury in which he fractured his wrist in the 2021-22 offseason, needing surgery.

When he was about to return, he tested positive for a banned substance and was suspended for 80 games.

That will extend until April 20, the day he is eligible to return.

Tatis won’t be able to play from March 30, which is Opening Day, until April 20.

He will be allowed to play spring training games and start getting himself ready in camp, though.

In fact, he reported earlier than expected in an effort to reach top form as soon as possible.

The best part of it all is that his swing is looking nice, and it’s making that incredible sound when the wood finds the ball.

That can only mean one thing: Tatis is healthy, or at least awfully close to being 100 percent.

He underwent several procedures in his wrist and shoulder because the injuries there were problematic.

He appears ready to leave it all behind and help the Padres win baseball games starting in late April.

Fans are disappointed in him, but time is a great healer: if he behaves and contributes, all will be forgotten quicker than we all expect.

He remains an extraordinarily talented baseball player on a top team, so there is a chance he can enjoy postseason baseball in the fall.
