The St. Louis Cardinals are ready to make another run to the top of the NL Central in 2023 after winning 93 games a season ago.

They were largely carried by the power of Paul Goldschmidt, who ended up winning the NL MVP Award.

However, it appears that Goldschmidt has not lost his touch.

The Cardinals squared off against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.

Both Goldschmidt and fellow MVP finalist Nolan Arenado were in the starting lineup, and the two sluggers began the game in style, hitting back-to-back home runs and giving St. Louis a 2-0 lead.

On Twitter, MLB posted a video of Goldschmidt and Arenado’s home runs.

It appears that neither Goldschmidt nor Arenado have lost their touch and are once again prepared for big seasons.

Arenado finished third in the MVP race behind Manny Machado and Goldschmidt.

Though Albert Pujols may not be in their lineup anymore, the Cardinals can still lean on Goldschmidt and Arenado, who are already in mid-season form.

This is exactly what Cardinals fans are going to want to see today.

The team has a powerful lineup with the two MVP candidates and also added Willson Contreras to the mix.

Those three should make a deadly middle-of-the-order combination for St. Louis.

But today, the duo of Goldschmidt and Arenado will do just fine.

The two sluggers have helped make the Cardinals lineup one of the most feared ones throughout the league.

It may be spring training, but Cardinals fans are hoping that this is a sign of things to come in 2023.
