Ahead of the 2021 NFL season, the Jacksonville Jaguars were determined to turn around their franchise, as they jumped at the opportunity to hire legendary college coach Urban Meyer.
With Meyer being revered in that part of the country for which he accomplished with the University of Florida, he seemed to be the ideal fit for the Jaguars.
However, things did not go as planned for the Jaguars or Meyer, who failed to live up to expectations in epic fashion in Jacksonville, as it arguably couldn’t have gone worse for both sides.
Fortunately for the Jaguars, the move to fire Meyer turned out to be the right one, with the team flourishing under Doug Pederson.
As for Meyer, however, the legendary coaching career has seemingly come to an end, as he’s admitted to Sports Illustrated via NFL Rumors.

With the way Meyer’s stint in the NFL came to an end, it comes as no surprise that he’d want to call it quits, as he seems to have lost that edge that made him so successful on the college level with Florida and Ohio State .
It’s a shame such a successful coaching career would end in this way, as Meyer was considered one of the best in his profession at one point in time, but that changed with an unforgettable stint in Jacksonville.
Some great college coaches struggle to transition to the professional level, and Meyer was another victim on a list that also includes one of the best to ever coach football in Alabama’s Nick Saban.
