The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the surprises of the NFL this past season.
No one expected them to compete in their division, let alone win a playoff game.
But, the job Doug Pederson did in his first year should not go unnoticed.
He helped develop quarterback Trevor Lawrence and turned him into the star many people thought he would be.
But, some credit for last season’s success also goes to General Manager Trent Baalke.
He was aggressive in free agency and added many key contributors to their offense.
One of the most important additions was tight end, Evan Engram.
Engram struggled to start his career with the Giants, but he was able to flourish in Jacksonville.
Last season he caught 73 passes for 766 yards and four touchdowns.
The receptions and yards were both career highs for the tight end.
But, Engram did all of that on a one-year contract that he signed with the Jags.
So he is a free agent heading into this offseason.
Lawrence has made it clear that he does not want to see his tight end go.
This is my campaign 4 Evan tweet not any officially announcement lol 😂😂

Lawrence benefited from the coaching change and influence of weapons at his disposal.
It would be a mistake from Baalke if he let Engram walk.
Doing whatever it takes to make Lawrence happy and continue his development is crucial.
Look for the Jags to continue improving their roster this offseason, as they get set for another playoff chase in 2023.
