The offense of the St. Louis Cardinals was expected to be their greatest strength in 2023.
While it has flashed its explosive potential, the bats have fallen silent in a few games.
However, manager Oli Marmol might have a solution to the problem.
That solution might be hitting Tommy Edman in the leadoff spot.
For most of this month, the Cardinals have been hitting Edman ninth and having Brendan Donovan in the top spot of the order.
However, the Cardinals have hit Edman leadoff in three games this year.
They have won all three.
On April 8, they scored six runs against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Three days later, they busted out for nine runs against the Colorado Rockies.
And on Wednesday, they scored 14 runs against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
On Twitter, a Cardinals fan commented on Edman’s success from the leadoff spot and how it helps the team.
When Tommy Edman bats 1st or 2nd this year….
•The Cardinals are 3-0
•They scored 6 runs against the Brewers
•They scored 9 runs against the Rockies
•They scored 14 runs against the DBacksEdman needs to bat 1st or 2nd more often… #STLCards

For most of his Cardinals career, Edman has been in the leadoff spot and has provided a spark at the top of the order.
On Wednesday, he was just a single shy of the cycle as the Cardinals prevented the Diamondbacks from pulling off a sweep.
His big day included a towering three-run homer off of Madison Bumgarner, who the Cardinals tagged for seven runs and chased after three innings.
But what makes Edman so unique is that he is a switch hitter and can do damage from both sides of the plate.
He is hitting .274 with two homers to start the year.
The Cardinals certainly have something special in him and having him in the leadoff spot could help them flex their offensive muscle.
