Jim Edmonds was one of the finest center fielders Major League Baseball had to offer during his prime.

Edmonds was a consistent hitter who possessed tremendous power and the ability to come through in the clutch.

He was also one of the best defensive outfielders the game had ever seen.

26 years ago on this date, the legendary outfielder made a very impressive catch with the Los Angeles Angels.

On a deep fly ball to center field at Kauffman Stadium, Edmonds dove to make the catch.

The ball was behind his back and just barely snuck over him, but it was enough for him to make one of the greatest catches of all time.

On Twitter, MLB Network recalled the moment Edmonds made this catch on the 26-year anniversary.

Edmonds had his back turned when he was running to catch this ball.

But fortunately, he was able to read it well and make an impressive catch.

Edmonds won eight Gold Gloves over the course of his career.

He came to the majors with the Angels in 1993 and was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2000.

He also made brief stops with the San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, and Cincinnati Reds.

He hit for a career .284 average while also hitting 393 home runs, posting a .903 OPS, and a WAR or 60.4.

Edmonds won a World Series ring with the Cardinals in 2006.

The legendary center fielder also earned four All-Star nods and a Silver Slugger Award.

But this catch was one of the finest moments of his career.
