After a tough loss on Sunday night against Team Mexico, Team USA came out on Monday and made a huge statement in their game against Team Canada.
After Chicago White Sox starter Lance Lynn threw a perfect first inning, Team USA’s bats exploded, scoring nine runs in the bottom half of the inning, capped off by Mike Trout’s three-run homer.
Lynn’s White Sox teammate Tim Anderson also had a big game.
The White Sox shortstop drew a start at second base and went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI, a walk, two runs scored, and a stolen base.
After Team USA’s 12-1 victory over Canada, Anderson spoke with MLB Network’s Jon Morosi about the depth of the team’s lineup and his faith that the bats would ultimately wake up.
“You’ve seen the lineup, you’ve got a little bit of everything: power, speed, contact. It makes it tough on the pitcher.”

The former batting champion was first asked about adjusting to second base.
Anderson replied by saying that it wasn’t too much of a transition for him and that he adjusted pretty quickly.
He said he got more comfortable as the game progressed, joking that earlier in the game he almost fell over.
Anderson was also asked about Team USA’s mindset heading into Monday’s game after Sunday’s loss, and replied by saying that everybody still had faith and believed that something good was going to happen.
Anderson praised Team USA for the depth of their lineup, commenting on everything it possesses from power to speed and contact and how in the end, it makes things difficult for opposing pitchers.
The team chased left-hander Mitch Bratt after just a third of an inning, touching him for six runs.
