After winning four World Series championships in a span of five years between 1996 and 2000, the New York Yankees were champions again in 2009.
Since then, they haven’t even been able to return to the Fall Classic.
They have made the playoffs every year since 2017, and haven’t had a losing campaign since the 90s.
However, since 2009, they can’t return to the last series of the season.
Fans are getting impatient: they know the team is competitive, but they want more.
Much more.
They want to enjoy and experience being a champion, being on top of the world.
14 years have passed since the Yanks played the World Series.
In the meantime, here are the teams that have gone to at least one Fall Classic.

The Houston Astros, the Yanks’ recent nemesis, have gone to four and won two.
The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants have three appearances since 2009, and the Yanks’ archrivals, the Boston Red Sox, have two (both wins, in 2013 and 2018).
To put things in perspective, even the Washington Nationals, the Detroit Tigers, and the Kansas City Royals (twice!) have appeared in the World Series since that year.
The Nats and Royals even won one, but the same can’t be said about the Tigers.
This is what worries and annoys Yankees fans the most: watching their team fall short of the most important matchup of the season year after year.
It’s hard, though: only two teams make it every year for a reason.
Still, a franchise like the Yankees is expected to have more recent World Series games.
It’s at the top of the 2023 season’s wishlist for fans.
