Trey Lance could have the opportunity to regain his starting job at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers next season, as incumbent starter Brock Purdy is recovering from surgery on a torn UCL in his throwing elbow and may not be ready for Week 1.
At the very least, Lance will be under center during OTAs and the first part of training camp this summer, and he has been putting in work in order to be able to show the team that he has grown.
A workout video showing improved form on his passes emerged lately, and now another one has been posted on Twitter.

In addition, it has been reported that Lance has been working out with Patrick Mahomes, the superstar signal-caller of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Thus far, Lance hasn’t played a ton of organized football, as he had almost a full year of college ball taken away from him due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He has played in just eight games in the NFL, four of which he has started, but he has shown the 49ers enough promise to become their starter prior to last season.
After mixed results to start the year, he suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 2, which summoned Jimmy Garoppolo back to the QB1 spot.
When Garoppolo went down with a foot injury in Week 13, Purdy, the last player chosen in the 2022 NFL Draft, took over and did very well.
Purdy is clearly more polished and ready right now, but many feel Lance has a higher ceiling, and if he starts breaking out, especially in terms of his short-to-medium-range passing accuracy, perhaps he could not only earn the starting job again but also keep it once Purdy is fully healthy.
