The Pistons trust Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren as their inner partner of the future

The Detroit Pistons have confirmed their commitment to Isaiah Stewart and Marvin Bagley III as their starting inside partner in the last five games. An approach to which the franchise wants to give continuity as part of the philosophy of the future of the project.

According to information from the journalist from The Athletic, James L. Edwards III, the Pistons want to implement systems based on large physical players. In the inside game, this would translate into the use of two tall and corpulent men as opposed to the current trend of playing with small ‘4’.

Detroit’s front office and coaching staff view Stewart and Jalen Duren as their front court in the long term, which would justify Dwane Casey’s current decision to place Stewart next to another big men, Bagley III. Although the results so far have not been as desired, the Pistons are hopeful that Duren and Stewart will become an intimidating duo from defense.

However, there is a factor volatile able to modify this equation. If the Pistons finally hit the jackpot in the 2023 draft and draft Victor Wembanyama, one of these two young players would be ostracized. But one way or another, Edwards III points out that the Pistons are determined to become a team that excels in physique, size and defense.
