The Pittsburgh Pirates have been a pleasant surprise this year.

Though there is still a lot of the season left to be played, Pittsburgh is performing quite well.

They are 10-7 and sit just two games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central.

On Monday, they had a night to remember as they busted out for 14 runs and defeated the Colorado Rockies by a final score of 14-3.

Carlos Santana and Ke’Bryan Hayes led the way for the Bucs, with each of them picking up two hits and driving in three runs.

On Twitter, MLB posted a cool graphic to hype up Pirates fans after their big win.

Although the Pirates are only 17 games in the season, they are playing quite well.

This is also coming after Oneil Cruz suffered a severe ankle injury.

Cruz will be out until August, but that doesn’t seem to have faced the Pirates in any way.

The return of Andrew McCutchen clearly has paid dividends.

He also picked up two hits on Monday night at Coors Field, driving in a run.

The Pirates last reached the postseason in 2015.

That year, they won 98 games and were a Wild Card team.

They had shown glimpses of promise in 2012 before reaching the postseason three straight years from 2013-15.

They even finished above .500 in 2018.

But things may be different this year than in recent years.

The Pirates have finished under .500 in six of the last seven seasons, but are playing some good baseball to start the 2023 season and are keeping pace with the Brewers and Chicago Cubs.
