The Philadelphia Phillies entered the 2023 season with massive expectations.
After making it to the World Series last year, they were expected to carry that momentum into this season.
Unfortunately, that is not how it works.
The Phillies added some new pieces to their roster this offseason, including star shortstop Trea Turner.
While Turner has been good so far, he can only do so much.
It has been the injured players that are the biggest concern through the two series.
The Phillies lost Rhys Hoskins for the season after suffering an ACL injury in spring training.
Also, outfielder Brandon Marsh and new first baseball Darick Hall got injured over the past few games.
Not to mention Bryce Harper is not expected to return until late May at the earliest.
On Wednesday the Phillies lost 4-2 to the Yankees and fell to 1-5 on the season.
Yankees 4, Phillies 2. Aaron Nola was good. Gerrit Cole was better. A bunch of guys are injured. The Phillies return to Citizens Bank Park at 1-5.

The whole roster needs to step up for the Phillies, as the pitching has been poor, and the hitting inconsistent.
Maybe heading back home will give this team the jolt they need.
The Phillies have their home opener on Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds.
That is a series that the Phillies must win.
Even though it is still early in the year, falling to 2-7, or 1-8, is unacceptable.
Aaron Nola had a good start on Wednesday and now the rest of the rotation must follow that performance.
It is time for the Phillies to start playing better baseball and hopefully they can do that on Thursday.
