The defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies made a huge signing on Monday during the Winter Meetings, striking a deal with star shortstop Trea Turner.

The 29-year-old signed an 11-year, $300 million contract with the defending National League champions.

And so, the star shortstop reunites with former Washington Nationals teammates Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, and joins a lineup that also features JT Realmuto, Rhys Hoskins, Alec Bohm, and Nick Castellanos.

On Twitter, MLB posted a photo of Harper and Turner, with Turner already photoshopped in his new Phillies threads, with a backdrop of the field view at Citizens Bank Park.

Turner, Harper Reunited

Turner brings speed and power to a Phillies team that is hungry for more after reaching their first World Series since 2009.

The team battled the Houston Astros tooth and nail, falling just two games short of their first title since 2008.

After Jean Segura’s club option was not exercised by the team, it was clear that a star shortstop was on their radar.

Turner ultimately ends up reuniting with two former teammates and giving the Phillies an extra power bat in their lineup, while also providing a little speed.

Of course, Harper will be out for some time as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

The slugger was limited to designated hitter duties due to a UCL torn in his elbow, so the team will have to wait a few months before Turner and Harper share the same lineup.

But when Harper returns, these two former teammates will help carry the Phillies as they look to build off of their 2022 World Series run.
