The San Diego Padres made a key move this morning, signing veteran right-hander Michael Wacha to a contract.
The terms of the deal have yet to be revealed and the contract is still pending a physical.
The Padres already had Blake Snell, Joe Musgrove, and Yu Darvish in their starting rotation, but have now added a key veteran arms as they look to unseat the Los Angeles Dodgers at the top spot in the NL West.
On Twitter, MLB writer Jim Bowden previewed the team’s rotation, which is full of starters who posted ERAs of 3.60 or better during the 2022 season.

In addition to Wacha, the Padres had added Seth Lugo in free agency.
They also have Nick Martinez, who can be used in a starter’s role.
Needless to say, this is quite a stacked starting rotation.
The Padres won 89 games during the regular season and earned a Wild Card spot, reaching the NLCS after knocking out the New York Mets and the Dodgers.
In addition to their pitching moves, they added Xander Bogaerts, Matt Carpenter, and Nelson Cruz to their lineup.
And so, the Padres have made their goals clear.
They hope to bring a title back to San Diego in 2022.
Wacha enjoyed a bounce-back season with the Boston Red Sox, winning 11 games and posting an ERA of 3.32 in 23 starts.
Injuries remain an issue, but when healthy, Wacha was effective with Boston.
He began his career with the St. Louis Cardinals before making brief stops with the Mets and Tampa Bay Rays.
