The New York Mets have plenty of pressure on them as they enter the 2023 season.

After blowing a 10-game lead in the NL East last year, the Mets were forced to play in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

Where they lost in three games against the San Diego Padres.

The front office feels the pressure from their fans after another disappointing finish.

The Mets have been very aggressive in free agency because of that.

After losing Jacob deGrom, the pressure was on for the Mets to address their starting rotation.

They added the reigning AL Cy Young winner, Justin Verlander, to go along with former Cy Young winner Max Scherzer.

Also, they brought in Jose Quintana and Kodai Senga, both of which look to be solid third and fourth starters.

Other contributors the Mets added were relief pitcher David Robertson, and they brought back outfielder Brandon Nimmo.

The Mets were not afraid to spend money this offseason.

After all of these moves, it is clear the Mets are out of excuses for the 2023 season.

NL Contenders?

The only result that would make Mets fans happy this upcoming season is a trip to the World Series.

They have not made the Fall Classic since 2015, and have struggled in the playoffs in recent years.

Some of the teams the Mets will be competing with are Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Diego Padres.

All of those teams have as good or better rosters than the Mets on paper.

The National League is going to be highly contested this upcoming season.

But, as previously stated, the Mets are out of excuses this year.

They have the team in place to make a deep postseason run, now they must do it.
