Innocently or not, one of the reasons that the Lakers’ media environment used as an argument for the few movements made last offseason was the possibility that, during the season, a star would get within range. It is not the case, but there are reasons to generate a certain buzz. The Chicago Bulls are ranked eleventh in the East with a record of 11-16. And, above all, the rumors that they could abort their current project this year. The contract signed to Zach LaVine last summer should designate him as untouchable, but the Lakers have smelled blood and are already stalking the 27-year-old guard.
This does not imply that it is a priority objective. In fact, Jake Fischer points out in his last article to yahoo sports that the list of objectives of the angelina franchise is rather long. However, LaVine may be the least comfortable star in his current team, having had run-ins with Billy Donovan over the coach’s decisions that have affected the player personally. Before him, the Bulls would probably prefer to see other players like Nikola Vucevic, Cobby White or even more willing to let DeMar DeRozan go. Everything will depend on the size of the changes they intend to make, and if Karnisovas’ idea is to burn everything from the ground up, LaVine is his piece of greatest sporting value despite having a gigantic contract guaranteed until 2027.
