The Jacksonville Jaguars are a team on the rise, and it may be only a matter of time before they start contending for the Super Bowl every season.

On Monday, one day after the Kansas City Chiefs claimed the Vince Lombardi Trophy, they went ahead and added some depth to their backfield by signing running back Qadree Ollison.

Ollison, a native of upstate New York, played four seasons for the University of Pittsburgh, and as a senior he didn’t do too badly, putting up 1,213 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

But his performance at the NFL Combine and Pro Day wasn’t too impressive, and he was still on the board when the Atlanta Falcons took him with the 152nd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Ollison played in only eight games as a rookie and gained just 50 yards that year, but he managed to score four touchdowns.

After three seasons with Atlanta, he played this season for the Dallas Cowboys, but he took part in just three games, mostly while playing on special teams.

The main weapon in the Jaguars’ ground game is Travis Etienne, who ran for 1,125 yards and five touchdowns in the regular season.

He was supplemented by James Robinson (340 yards and three touchdowns) and Jamychal Hasty (194 yards and two scores).

Of course, quarterback Trevor Lawrence has developed into a running threat, as he registered 291 yards and five touchdowns on the ground in the regular season.

Jacksonville has to be the odds-on favorite to once again win the AFC South next season, especially after ending the regular season with a five-game winning streak.
