During the Kansas City Chiefs’ run of dominance, two players have been the most important.
That is quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce.
Both have been the two key cogs on their offense and are the two best players in the league at their respective positions.
Even though Mahomes is still in the prime of his career, Kelce is entering the twilight of his career.
Kelce will be 34 years old in October, and it might be time for the Chiefs to start looking for his successor.
One spot the Chiefs can look for the next Kelce is in the upcoming NFL Draft.
This draft class is loaded with tight end talent, with multiple expected to be picked in the first round.
With Kansas City selecting 31st, you can expect one of the very good tight ends to be on the board for them.
According to the Chiefs’ Twitter account, three tight ends might interest them.

Thanks to Kelce and others, tight end is now a position that needs to influence the offense.
Having someone that can make plays with the ball is very crucial.
The two best pass-catching tight ends in the draft seem to be Michael Mayer and Dalton Kincaid.
Mayer is from Notre Dame and Kincaid is from Utah.
Both have the potential to be day-one starters in the NFL and can make an immediate impact in the passing game.
As for Darnell Washington, he is a great athlete and maybe the best blocking tight end.
Teams will be enamored by his size and strength, so he should be a day-two pick at worst.
If the Chiefs are serious about finding a successor to Kelce, this is the draft to do it.
