On Thursday, the Los Angeles Angels made a key signing to strengthen their bullpen, adding veteran left-hander Matt Moore on a one-year contract.

The 33-year-old came to the big leagues as a starter with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2011 before making brief stops with the San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, and Philadelphia Phillies.

He returned to the Rangers in 2022 and posted a 1.95 ERA in 63 appearances and 74 innings of work, even earning a spot on the American League All-Star team.

The financial terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed.

On Twitter, the Angels welcomed their new left-hander with a nice message and a cool graphic featuring him photoshopped in Halos gear.

The Halos certainly have been busy this winter.

Granted, there was a lot of work to do after a disastrous 2022 season.

Their first major move of the offseason was the signing of Tyler Anderson on a three-year deal.

The team traded for infielder Gio Urshela and slugger Hunter Renfroe and also added Brandon Drury on a two-year deal after a year of resurgence with the Cincinnati Reds and San Diego Padres.

Moore gives them a solid left-handed option out of their bullpen to go along with Aaron Loup, who was signed prior to the start of the 2022 season.

Moore was one of a few solid left-handed relievers still available, along with Brad Hand, Will Smith, Zack Britton, and Andrew Chafin, who recently signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Angels have built a better supporting cast around Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani and appear to be intent on contending in 2023.
