Terance Mann is the Clippers’ ‘plan B’ for the point guard position

The main objective of the Los Angeles Clippers facing the closing of the market is the incorporation of an interior player that complements their starting center, Ivica Zubac. For this they are planning to use John Wall as a bargaining chip. The point guard has performed at a good level despite being far from his best years, but management wants to correct structural flaws in other positions.

The departure of Wall, in turn, would weaken the base position but in Los Angeles they believe that the solution could already be in the squad. According to the medium The Athletic, the Clippers believe Terance Mann can become the starting point guard beyond this season. However, Ty Lue is of the opinion that Mann’s ideal position is small forward and he would like to add another traditional point guard to the rotation.

The Clippers have the young Jason Preston but, for now, he has received very few opportunities, since he has only played a total of 75 minutes, spread over ten games.

Mann is under contract through the 2024-25 season after agreeing to an extension for another two years and $22 million in 2021. Thus, Mann’s emergence can translate into a double reading: facilitating Wall’s departure and, at his time, displacing the player from any business negotiations in which he might be involved.
