St. Louis Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright has been one of the most consistent pitchers in MLB since making his debut in 2006.

He has won two World Series as a member of the Cards, although he didn’t play in the 2011 campaign.

As a pitcher, he has achieved a lot.

He has taken part in three All-Star Games, has won two Gold Gloves, one Silver Slugger award, one Roberto Clemente award, and has led the National League in wins twice.

The owner of a 3.38 ERA in his MLB tenure, the 41-year-old will get one last honor to close out his career.

“BREAKING: Adam Wainwright will start Game 1 for @USABaseball on Saturday night,” MLB insider Jon Morosi tweeted.

Wainwright, evidently, is not the same pitcher he used to be.

The owner of one of the most beautiful curveballs in MLB recent history, he just doesn’t miss as many bats as he did in the past.

But that doesn’t mean he can’t be an effective pitcher.

In 2022, he posted a solid 3.71 ERA in 191.2 frames.

His assignment will be stopping Great Britain on Saturday.

That game will be played at 10:00 pm ET, and people will get to watch how he defends Team USA’s uniform for one last big tournament.

He has already announced that 2023 will be his final season as a professional baseball player.

He should have no issues handling the British lineup, at least in theory.

After that, his next rival will depend on whether USA can advance to the next round.

Here is hoping Wainwright can keep building up memories on the field as his career comes to an end.
