Last week, the New York Mets received some harsh news when it was revealed that their All-Star closer and reigning National League Reliever of the Year Edwin Diaz would be out for the entire 2023 season after tearing the patellar tendon in his right knee.
This could potentially put the Mets in the running for some relief pitching help at the trade deadline.
However, in the midst of this unfortunate situation for the Mets, Steve Cohen, the team’s owner, has stepped up to the plate for his injured closer, giving him a trainer, a nutritionist, and a personal chef in his home to help with the right-hander’s recovery process.

Things such as this make Cohen an ideal owner in Major League Baseball.
Cohen here shows that he truly cares about not only winning, but the well-being of his players, understanding the gravity of such a loss and how it will affect the Mets in 2023.
However, it’s clear that he wants to take care of Diaz and make sure that he endures a speedy recovery.
Granted, it’s going to take some time for Diaz to get back to full strength.
But fortunately, Cohen has stepped up to the plate for his injured closer and wants to do everything he can to ensure Diaz’s recovery process is seamless.
Diaz saved 32 games last season in 61 appearances, posting a 1.31 ERA.
He helped guide the Mets to a 101-win season and their first postseason berth since 2016.
His entrance may be what is missed by the most, however.
This year, there will be no trumpets sounding.
