In 2018, the Baltimore Orioles were still at the beginning of their rebuilding phase.
They had made the postseason in 2012, 2014 and 2016, but had fallen out of favor.
They finished that season with a 47-115 record and also traded Manny Machado.
Five years later, the Orioles are back where they were in the mid-2010s.
They now own the third-best record in all of baseball and are just four games behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East.
Baltimore owns a 48-29 record.
The team has already won more games than it did during that terrible 2018 season.
On Twitter, baseball writer Dan Clark commented on this recent Orioles achievement.
After just 77 games, the 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 have already won more games this season than they did in 2018.

The 2018-21 seasons weren’t glory days in Baltimore, far from it.
They were a mediocre team that constantly lost.
In 2021, they even lost 110 games.
Last year, however, things changed.
The Orioles emerged as surprise contenders, winning 83 games during the regular season, just shy of the postseason.
This year, the O’s are back in full force with a young team that includes Rookie of the Year finalist Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson, Anthony Santander, Jordan Westburg, Cedric Mullins and Austin Hays.
The future looks bright in the Beltway area as the Orioles now find themselves in the midst of the postseason chase.
The All-Star break is fast approaching, but it looks like Baltimore will be a team to watch down the stretch.
They have come a long way in five years.
