New York Mets star outfielder Starling Marte had a few problematic injuries late last season that limited his availability and effectiveness in the stretch run.

In fact, he had offseason surgery to repair two tendons on both sides of his groin.

He is looking healthy now, although the Mets will take his spring training activities and recovery slowly.

He was scheduled to take batting practice on the field Thursday.

The fact he is already hitting is an excellent sign.

His manager, Buck Showalter, recently said there is no reason to believe that he won’t be ready for the start of the regular season.

If we had to judge his physical status by his dance moves, we would say he is definitely in midseason form.

If we had to guess, we would say his core and groins look perfectly fine.

The video is priceless and shows the joy of being in major league camp, healthy and getting ready for a nice, normal season.

He starts clapping and the next thing you know, he is almost twerking, with everybody laughing and having a good time.

That’s the type of spring training content we like to see from time to time: players actually enjoying themselves out there on the field.

Marte, who had 3.0 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) in just 118 games last year, is a vital part of the Mets lineup.

He is the spark plug that contributes power, speed, and aggressive baserunning at the top of the lineup.

Having him healthy and ready to go changes the whole equation for Showalter and the Mets.
