It’s been a long time since the Dallas Cowboys made an applause-worthy move.
They recently traded for former Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore, and while he might be in the backend of his prime, he’s still one of the best additions they could’ve dreamed of.
That’s why sports analyst — and well-known Cowboys fan — Skip Bayless raved about his team’s latest acquisition, stating that they’ve finally addressed one of their most significant areas of need.

Dan Quinn has revamped the Cowboys’ once-terrible defense, and it’s become evident that they’ll find better success with more talent on that unit.
Gilmore has been one of the most dominant cornerbacks in the league since being taken 10th overall in 2012, repeatedly shutting down some of the best wideouts in the game.
Even at 32 years old, Gilmore excelled at man coverage for the ever-struggling Colts.
That’s a significant plus for Dan Quinn, who’s often used man coverage schemes since arriving in Arlington, especially considering how volatile Trevon Diggs can be when it comes to either forcing a turnover or allowing an explosive play.
Furthermore, this gives the Cowboys another ball-hawk and playmaker on the defensive side of the field, joining the likes of DeMarcus Lawrence, Leighton Vander Esch, Micah Parsons, and the aforementioned Diggs.
The Cowboys will still have plenty of work to do to keep up with the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants in the NFC East, but it’s nice to see that they’re finally doing the moves they needed to do for years now.
