Shohei Ohtani has been competing with Team Japan in the World Baseball Classic as of late.
Team Japan is now headed to the quarterfinals.
Pool B play is now complete, and Ohtani has been named the MVP of the pool.
The Los Angeles Angels two-way superstar went 6-for-12 at the plate, hitting three doubles and a home run and driving in eight runs.
On the mound, the right-hander pitched four innings and allowed just one hit, striking out five batters in the process.
On Twitter, the official account of the WBC posted a cool graphic featuring Ohtani to celebrate his achievement.

The 2021 American League MVP is certainly no stranger to achieving historic feats.
As both a slugger and a pitching ace, Ohtani is easily one of, if not the best player in all of baseball, and he got a chance to put his two-way abilities on full display in the WBC this past week.
Soon, he’ll be back to work in the quarterfinals, which begin on Thursday.
Japan will take on Team Italy in the quarterfinals.
In the other second-round matchup, Cuba will take on Australia.
But Ohtani certainly had several games to remember in the first round of this legendary event.
His bat was hot, and his arm was just as impressive as he dominated on both sides of the game to win the Pool B MVP Award.
We’ll see what the next round has in store for Ohtani.
