The Philadelphia Eagles will remember Super Bowl LVII for decades.
They were quite close to the ultimate glory, yet a late call on James Bradberry sealed their fate before they had a chance to respond.
The talented CB tugged JuJu Smith-Schuster’s jersey, and the officials were ruthless, throwing a flag for holding that gave the Chiefs a key first down to continue running out the clock.
Had the refs decided not to call it, the Chiefs would’ve been forced to kick a field goal and leave nearly two minutes left on the clock for Jalen Hurts and the offense.
Instead, Nick Sirianni’s team got the ball back with just eight seconds left, and it wasn’t enough to try and even things up.
Needless to say, people called out the referees left and right for that call, stating that they shouldn’t let the referees decide the outcome of such a great game.
However, that’s not how NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe feels, as he believes the refs should make the right call, regardless of how much time is left on the clock or if it’s the Super Bowl or a preseason game:
“Yes, it was a flag; James Bradberry admitted it,” Sharpe said on Undisputed. It’s that simple.

Notably, even Bradberry admitted that he did hold Smith-Schuster and was only hoping the refs would let that slide, which obviously didn’t happen.
So, it’s a shame that it had to go down to this, but there should be no controversy about that call.
The refs finally got one right, which might seem hard to believe at this point.
