Sean Payton May Not Be A Top Choice After All

One of the hot names on the NFL coaching market was former New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton.

He has already interviewed with a plethora of teams, and it seemed likely that Payton would be coaching somewhere next year.

But, some recent developments seem to believe Payton might not find a job this cycle.

One reason for the lack of interest in Payton could be this price tag.

Any team that wants to acquire Payton’s services will need to trade for him from the Saints.

It seems like his price tag is at least one mid-to-late first-round pick.

Most teams would rather keep their draft picks and find a different head coach.

In a league where offense is king, it is a surprise Payton does not have more interest.

He has been one of the best offensive coaches over the past decade, which is why his lack of interest is surprising.

Two places where Payton would fit in best are with the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts.

Both of those teams are in much different places.

Denver has Russell Wilson and a playoff-caliber defense.

But, their offense was inept last season and Payton could be what helps turn that around.

As for the Colts, they don’t have a franchise quarterback in place, but they do have the fourth overall pick.

There is no question that they need to draft a quarterback this year, and giving Payton a rookie that he could mold would be smart.

The most important aspect for Payton is finding a place where there is a plan at quarterback.

He has shown the ability to win with different quarterbacks throughout his career, so having a plan in place is important.
