Yesterday, the Baseball Hall of Fame received another major addition to its class of elite players when third baseman and slugger Scott Rolen was elected as part of the Class of 2023.

Rolen will join Fred McGriff, who was elected back in December.

The 47-year-old played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball, spending most of his career with the Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Cardinals.

He also spent time with the Toronto Blue Jays and Cincinnati Reds.

During his career, he posted some elite numbers, and is on an all-exclusive list for third basemen.

Rolen is one of only seven third basemen to have scored 1,200 or more runs and driven in 1,200 runs.

Also on the list are George Brett, Brooks Robinson, Mike Schmidt, Eddie Mathews, Chipper Jones, and Adrian Beltre.

Needless to say, Rolen is in some elite company.

Rolen hit for a lifetime average of .281, amassed a total of 2,077 hits, and hit a total of 316 home runs.

He also had a career WAR of 70.1, an on-base percentage of .364, a slugging percentage of .490, an OPS of .855, and an OPS+ of 122.

During his 17-year career, Rolen earned a Rookie of the Year Award in 1997, was a seven-time All-Star, an eight-time Gold Glove Award winner, a Silver Slugger Award winner, and a 2006 World Series champion with the Cardinals.

After six long years, Rolen finally got his moment to shine and is officially the newest member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

He’ll be inducted this coming July alongside McGriff and join an elite group of MLB stars.
