The 2023 Roadrunner Cup Rallysprint Championship season kicks off this weekend with the RR Classic Rallysprint, find out everything you need to know about the event below.
What Is The Roadrunner Cup Rallysprint Championship?
The Rally Ready Rallysprint Championship is a championship hosted by the Rally Ready Driving School. The championship will feature four rounds with events taking place in various parts of Texas. Rallysprint is a short-form rally which runs on very few roads and can be held on private property. It’s also a good way for new drivers to gain experience with their cars or for drivers to test new setups with their cars or test a whole new car.
Rally Ranch Classic RallySprint Event Overview
The RR Classic RallySprint will feature eight stages totaling 20 stage miles. There will be 0 transit miles, therefore allowing the use of non-road legal vehicles.
Conditions
Drivers will experience many different road conditions at the RallySprint this weekend. As a result of the Rally Ready Ranch featuring a mixture of gravel, dirt, silt and hard-packed clay throughout the stages. To add onto the various road surfaces the Rally Ranch got hit with a fair amount of rain the night before the event start. This should make the roads slick for at least the first bit of day one.
Day One Preview
The first day of the RR Classic RallySprint will feature recce, shakedown, qualifying and two SuperSpecial stages.
Day Two Preview
The second day of the RR Classic RallySprint will feature the eight stages of the event. As well as an additional SuperSpecial Stage to cap off the event.
Who Will Be There?
The RR Classic RallySprint entry list will be headlined by Kyle Tilley of ERA Motorsports. Tilley will drive his 1971 Ford Escort at the event. Joining Tilley will be Hoonigans Ron Zaras in his 2007 Subaru Impreza. Pikes Peak Legend Robin Shute will also be at the event. Shute will drive a 1998 Subaru Impreza. Alex Laughlin and Josh Stinson will also be at the event. Oh, and we can’t forget Dave Carapetyan who will likely be driving his Corvette engine swapped Chevy Colorado at the event as the 0 or pace car.
