The Arizona Diamondbacks are a young team that could surprise a few people in 2023.
This is a team with plenty of young stars, including Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte, Jake McCarthy, Josh Rojas, Alek Thomas, and Zac Gallen.
The team has not reached the postseason since 2017 and has not finished over .500 since 2019.
But they are looking to change that this season and make some strides towards relevance.
They signed Evan Longoria and Andrew Chafin in free agency and acquired Kyle Lewis, Gabriel Moreno and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. in trades.
The young talent within the system and the new faces on the team have Carroll excited for 2023, and he stopped by MLB Network recently to discuss the team’s outlook for this season.

Carroll first talked about himself and his own versatility, saying that he isn’t going to try and force himself to latch onto one position, but rather be flexible and have the versatility to play other positions as well.
He talked about the importance of being himself at spring camp and putting his best foot forward.
The young outfielder then discussed the new faces on the team and what has him excited for the 2023 season.
He expressed excitement for Moreno and Gurriel, both of whom came from the Toronto Blue Jays in the Daulton Varsho trade.
He says he looks to Gurriel as a veteran presence and somebody that he can learn from, describing him as “a fresh voice.”
Carroll closed out the interview by talking about the young players within the organization, expressing excitement for what McCarthy and Thomas could bring to the table.
