The Baltimore Orioles are in an interesting point of their rebuild.
Their crop of young talent is beginning to make an impact in the Majors.
However, they are still just a couple of developmental years away from becoming true contenders.
Despite this, the team is looking to make some smaller moves to deepen their roster.
One of these is rumored to be Rich Hill, who the team has expressed interest in.

Veteran Leadership
With 18 years of MLB experience, Hill has just about seen it all.
That could be very valuable for a young team.
He would likely take a leadership role and become a guiding figure in their clubhouse.
With his history of playing in the postseason, this could lay the framework that their young crop of players needs to take the next step.
Adds To Their Rotation
While there is a component of leadership to Hill, his own performance on the field can’t be overlooked.
Last year wasn’t great, as he posted a 4.27 ERA, but he has a track record of strong seasons recently.

Excluding last year, he has posted an ERA below four in eight of the last nine years.
This not only makes him a reliable rotation arm, it actually makes him one of the best statistical pitchers over that time.
While the Orioles likely wouldn’t be getting that version of Hill, he can still contribute at a high level.
This is a starting rotation that could really use it too.
While it isn’t necessarily terrible, the depth could go a long way towards getting the Orioles to a potential Wild Card berth.
