Baseball players often don’t get to choose who they play for.

Take Cincinnati Reds infielder Jonathan India as an example.

He was drafted fifth overall by the Reds in 2018, and after a couple of seasons in the minors, he made his debut in 2021 and won the National League Rookie of the Year award.

Now, if you ask India’s dad where he preferred his son to play, he’d tell you the New York Mets without hesitation.

India, in fact, shared a hilarious story about her father’s feelings towards the Mets.

“’My dad watches Mets games and then records them. @Rojos games.’ @JonathanIndiathe father of is INCORRECT @Mets fan,” Foul Territory tweeted.

In the short clip, India says she sometimes asks her father what he thought about some of his at-bats, but in reality, the elderly India hadn’t even seen them because he was busy enjoying (or suffering?) a Mets game. game.

It happens sometimes: in the vast majority of cases, major leaguers have been able to achieve their goal because their parents love baseball; and if they love baseball, they must be tied to a specific team.

The intensity of said fandom, however, varies from person to person and India’s father seems to be near the “high intensity” end of the spectrum.

It’s actually a great story, and young Jonathan doesn’t seem to care much for it.

Right now, though, Mr. India could potentially find the National League Central-leading Reds more interesting than the fourth-place Mets.

Still, a true fan does not abandon his team in difficult times, and we are sure that he is watching each game for better or worse.
