The Boston Red Sox have addressed their need for a temporary shortstop.

Today, they acquired veteran utilityman Adalberto Mondesi from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for left-hander Josh Taylor and a player to be named later.

The Red Sox were in need of a temporary solution after the injury to Trevor Story and have addressed their need for some additional depth in the infield.

However, Red Sox analyst Chris Cotillo believes that there still could be more to come.

With Taylor now gone, Boston could use another left-handed reliever, and there are plenty of them who have still yet to be signed.

This could potentially open the door for the Red Sox to do a little bit more this offseason.

Lefties Andrew Chafin and Matt Moore are both still out on the free agent market and looking to be signed.

Moore could fill the role of a swingman if signed.

He transitioned to a relief role in 2022, but does have a background of starting.

The Red Sox have plenty of question marks when concerning their rotation, and Moore could make a spot start occasionally.

Chafin would be an interesting addition too if the Red Sox decide to go that route.

He posted a 2.83 ERA this past season with the Detroit Tigers and could be of use to the Sox.

Taylor missed the 2022 season due to back issues, but having an extra lefty reliever wouldn’t hurt the team as we move closer to the start of spring training and the 2023 season.
