The fourth day of Rally Sweden has come to an end. Ott Tänak would remain in the lead after the day to take the rally win.
SS16, VASTERVIK 1
Stage 16 would see Kalle Rovanperä take the stage win, beating Ott Tänak by 1.5 seconds. Thierry Neuville would place third on the stage, 1.2 seconds behind Tänak. Craig Breen would place fourth on the stage, 1.8 seconds behind Neuville. Esapekka Lappi would round out the top five, finishing the stage 3.9 seconds behind Breen.
SS17, VASTERVIK 2
Stage 17 would see Thierry Neuville take the stage win, beating Craig Breen by 3.8 seconds. Kalle Rovanperä would place third on the stage, 2.2 seconds behind Breen. Ott Tänak would place fourth on the stage, 0.9 seconds behind Rovanperä. Takamoto Katsuta would round out the top five, finishing the stage 4.5 seconds behind Tänak.
SS18, UMEÅ 2, POWERSTAGE
Stage 18 would see Esapekka Lappi take home the Rally Sweden Powerstage win. Elfyn Evans, Kalle Rovanperä and Ott Tänak would tie for second on the stage, with all three finishing the stage 0.6 seconds behind Lappi. Craig Breen would take home fifth on the stage, finishing 0.2 seconds behind Evans, Rovanperä and Tänak.
Penalty For Breen
Craig Breen would receive a 10-second penalty at the start of Stage 17 for arriving one minute late. This penalty would result in Breen’s Hyundai teammate Thierry Neuville getting moved into second place. This change wouldn’t last for long as Breen would reclaim second on Stage 18. Breen would finish the rally 1.3 seconds ahead of Neuville. This penalty also likely handed Tänak the rally win. As Breen sat just 8.5 seconds behind Tänak before the penalty.
