The Pittsburgh Pirates are a young team that has greatly outperformed their expectations this season.

One key aspect of their ballclub has been their core of young stars.

Recently, top catching prospect Henry Davis was promoted to the Major Leagues.

On Thursday, he got to experience a special moment at loan Depot Park in Miami.

With the Bucs ahead of the Miami Marlins by a score of 2-1 in the top of the eighth, Davis connected on an 85-mph slider for his first big-league home run.

That home run made it a 3-1 game.

On Twitter, MLB posted a video of Davis’ first big-league blast in Miami.

As is the case with any home run hit by the Pirates, the blast prompted TV announcer Greg Brown to say his famous catchphrase, “clear the deck, cannonball.”

It was the first of Davis’ career and it was truly a special moment for the young slugger.

It was the only hit of the night for the top catching prospect, who started in right field.

But he certainly made it count as he got the chance to experience a truly special moment in Miami.

Miami won the game by a final score of 6-4, rallying late to beat the Bucs.

However, it didn’t take away from Davis’ special moment.

The Bedford, New York native had hit 11 home runs in the minor leagues and hit for a .284 average while reaching base at a .433 clip and posting an impressive OPS of .974.

He was also responsible for knocking in 30 runs in the minors between Double-A and Triple-A.
