Derrick Rose’s NBA career aims to continue for at least another year. The veteran point guard arrives in the summer as a free agent after seeing how the Knicks rejected his team option, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to run out of options to continue playing in the best basketball league in the world. As reported by Marc Stein, Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls are the three possible destinations that are sounding the most for the youngest MVP in history.
After a difficult course in which he has hardly counted for Tom Thibodeau, for Rose it would be fantastic to be able to join a contender as is the case of the organizations in Arizona and Wisconsin. At 34 years old (35 in October), he would have the opportunity to get a ring that would make him recover what he lost due to injuries, but that would partially compensate him for the enormous effort made to continue playing among the best.
As is logical, his new contract aims to be below the 15.6 million dollars that were listed in the team option. In your case we are talking about the minimum salary or at most some exception that does not exceed it too much. The big question is whether after so many blank months he would be prepared to contribute what the interested parties want.
Returning to the Knicks, Marc Stein does not rule out a return to the Big Apple. Although the New Yorkers would have targeted other names for the free agent market, seeing how any of those options slip away could make them go back and look for the continuity of Rose.
